Hello All!
Earlier this year my 16 gallon biocube went through some changes. I added a new light and after some thought I ended up drilling the back and connecting a 20 long refugium next to it.
The main purpose?
My LFS got in a Blue Mandarin Goby that was deemed unsaveable as it came in just over 1/4”
Roughly 5 months later and Mr. Mandarin is THRIVING and is about 1” now.
He has a vast amount of pods to eat and will occasionally take some frozen mysis shrimp.
That now brings us to today, the mark of the beginning of the final home. About a week ago I decided that my fish friends needed a upgrade, nothing too serious but a upgrade nontheless. So to local pet chain we go to pick up a 29 for the dollar per gallon sale and a 10 gallon tank for a sump. Got it all home and put into the spare room/ office space area and that’s where it sat for the rest of the week.
Well last night at about 5pm Me and the Girlfriend were laying in bed browsing the web and she stumbled upon a “30 gallon tank drilled with a 20 long sump” and all its equipment for $150!
Of course we jumped on that.
Well after getting to the persons house I was pleasantly surprised that it was in fact a 40 breeder tank that was drilled with a sump!
After loading in the tank and driving home we had some major cleaning to do, everything had been in storage for so long the amount of mouse poop in yeh stand was immense. About a gallon of vinegar and 4 hours of scrubbing and waiting down we got it to a clean point.
Puts us to this morning, water has been mixing overnight and the fill begins.
Will be updating as it gets filled and while I move everything over from the 16 biocube.
Current Equipment:
-Hyrofill ATO
-Eheim 1260 Universal Pump
-Kessil H80 refugium light
Equipment on Order:
-Aquaticlife 36” HOT5 LED Hybrid fixture
-AI Prime HD (x2)
-2 blue plus bulbs
-1 pure actinic bulb
-1 coral plus bulb
-Icecap 1k gyre pump + controller
If you have any suggestions they will be much appreciated!
