Hello everyone...I am back again and am getting ready to get back into the Saltwater scene again. I am hoping that everyone who remembers me and who I shared corals and zoas and frags with remembers me...I am nowhere near any place that sells corals, so everything will have to be done with mail order or at least 180 mile one way trips. Please think about fragging for me and I will happily pay for shipping!
I have bought a home way, way, WAY out in the country. We are very far off the grid out here which I find to be a good thing.
The best part of this home is that I have a very large, propane powered generator hooked up to an automatic transfer switch. If I have a power failure out here, the generator turns itself on and flips the switch to take me off the grid. Everything in and out of the house can be powered by this generator, it is huge. When the power comes back on, the generator flips the switch back and I go back on the local power.
My water comes from a well, but according to the people here it appears to be spring fed. I have had the water tested and I do not have anything bad in my water. No bad bacteria, no arsenic, no traces of chloride. My water comes from a deep aquafier and the readings are as follows: CA between 450 - 480 Alk runs between 8.0 and 8.50. So that part is good. I have no sulphur smells, no free iron. If you leave the water in a glass to evaporate you will see the heavy calcium build up. I think I can use this water right from the tap for my tank. I have PVC pipes, this leads all the way from the Pump / well house so I don't have to worry about copper anywhere. If I have to run this water thru a RO/DI unit, I will be replacing the resins once a week.
I will be using this in a 120 gallon tank.
I think this will work...thanks
