Just one question: should I keep updating my current topic in the DIY-section (about the build of the stand and aquarium) and start posting in the members tank section once the build is done? Or go straight away to the members tank section?

JanL - great question and it is up to you. Personally I would capture it all in the members tank section so that when you are adding pictures of your tank in a year, two years, etc. you and others will be able to look back in the same thread and see how your tank evolved, but either way is fine.
