Got a few random Indo mariculture corals from AquaSD earlier this week to try some mariculture pieces. Wanted to make a thread to keep updates on how they change over time.
Unknown Indo Acropora sp. probably milipora. This oen did not ship very well at all but it is always fuzzy.

Green Indo Millepora. A nice metallic green color and great PE. The mariculture plugs are quite annoying to remove but they also are completely encrusted with unknown life. This one broke into three pieces when I removed the frag plug. I would never put them in the tank ever.

A common green Stylophora pistillata. One thing I noticed about these indos is that they have very dense skeletons. I have handled a few stylos before but this one feels like a lead brick compared to those.

Not an Indo SPS but a nice little shortcake frag I got as a freebie.

"pink diamond" lord. It is sort of pink. I'm thinking this was a higher end acan that "oranged-out" and they just sell it as something "new".

Nice looking corals there! That top one if it does well should be quite interesting to see how it turns out. I personally love the surprise of more brown corals when they color back up.

Yea the top one intrigued me on their posts. Looked like it has some pink and red in it with some brown. Sometimes browns turn to good colors more often than greens ime. Let us know how it colors up!

My LFS is getting some Indo acros in soon. How hard are they to look after when compared to aquacultured acros?

Depends on how long they've been in captivity. Maricultured is going to be much more difficult on arrival than aquacultured. Once they've settled they do well but can be touchy at first.

Also for the OP, the first does look like A. millepora, looking forward to updates (:

Holding out just fine so far. I got an AI prime 16hd to supplement my kessils to help these guys grow. Alk consumption has exploded though.

Starting to turn green from the base. A small frag I broke off on accident earlier is doing the same.

Green mille gained some color too. Starting to turn orange at the tips..

Bonus birdsnest frag I got a month ago. Making lots of nubbins but not really branches yet.

I have noticed that these mariculture pieces are quite aggressive. They like to send out filaments quite frequently. One of them is fighting a sponge near its base.

Nice pieces ,, tagging along to see how they do :) I have a question ,, I am sure you dipped the corals before they went into your tank ,, what did you see?

I bayer dip so its hard to say what exactly comes off. Not much though. A few unidentifiable brown specks. The mariculture plugs should be removed though. Lots of random stuff growing on them.

Getting pretty good growth on all the Indo colonies! Not much basing out but a good amount of branch elongation. The light is still acclimating to full strength :). (55W LED targeted over 7g of water)

I think I would re-ID the beige/pink one as a type of A. prostrata. The green one is definitely a Millepora. When you compare them side by side with each other and with another mille in my tank the difference becomes a little more obvious.

New update! This pale-ish one has grown a little but not colored up much. It's getting yellow tips and pink with some green base:

The green mille has been growing well and has orange base with green polyps.

Any updates on the piece?

Mainly just wanted to give asd a shout out for continuing to provide some really nice mari acros. Put an order in for a few today and can’t wait to see how they look after acclimating to my lights. I have been having trouble finding any mari pieces recently and was glad to see wills had a decent selection. Really excited to get acropora Florida in my tank again and the ones they had had some really nice almost white colored polyps.
If anyone knows any vendors that provide new pieces almost weekly please toss out a name so I can keep up with them.

He’s been getting some good stuff in, I’ll show you a frag of a super nice tenuis colony I’m getting in on Sunday. I want to see it in person before I post pics.

Seadweller did you see the asd rainbow lambo in person yet? I was going to get a frag but forgot. It looks pretty cool but I am wondering if it really has anything other than a green base in normal light. But that nubby acro that’s still left on their site has my eye since I don’t have many yet and might go ahead and get a frag of it and that nubby branch on page two. The nubby one looks kinda like a humilis but I think it’s something else maybe?

They’re having a 25% off all corals starting tomorrow
