I have been lazy and run a fan in the cabinet 24/7 and let the heater bring it up to 78. Finally got a new Inkbird, and fan and heater hardly run now, ... should save some on the power. I am pleased with how well it works, I didn't change the heater, and still have it set at 78 for redundancy protection. Temp is much more stable now, adjusted to a 1 degree swing from the defalt of 3 degree swing....don't know if it can be adjusted to half degree or not?

Nice upgrade to temperature in my tank.

One question though, ... do you think the fan running 24/7 or not will affect PH ?

The fan shouldnt effect the ph at all. Now windows opened or closed and the amount of co2 in your house will.

I have the Inkbird also and I’m very happy with it. I use degrees Celcius and have my temp set to .5 degree increment and it holds my tank between 25 and 25.5 at all times except very cold nights. I have two Eheim Jager heaters plugged into a double adapter on the heat plug and nothing plugged into the cool plug.

I don’t use a chiller and have never needed to cool a tank despite living in hot climates. The need for a chiller baffles me lol.

I just realized using C instead of F will allow a much closer temp adjustment. I set mine at 25 with 0.3C swing. AH at 27 and low at 23. We'll see how often the alarm sounds. Not sure what swings would be allowable to not be a nuisance as C is much tighter on the Inkbird than F.

Update on this if anybody is watching. Currently set temp at 25.8 and have one 250 watt Eheim heater plugged into the Inkbird and the tank (RSR450) is pretty steady at 77.2-77.5 during the day. hasn't been that steady in over a year since I switched to C from F and put the temp prob in the weir. heater has been in sump form day one. At night the house temp falls down to 63 and the heater wont keep the temp up, falls to 76 ish. I think I need to run two 200 watt BRS Titanium heaters. Somebody said two of these heaters on the single socket split to two heaters will possibly be too much for the Ink bird. The BRS controller has a larger capacity wattage and has two plug ins for heat vs the inkbird 308 has one plug for heater and one for cooler, which i will never need to cool.

Switch it C and set it at 25.8C and lower the swing to 0.3. The tank will be much more stable. I just did this and it made a huge improvement. Things seem happier with the added stability.

I'm confused y everyone thinks bc you switch to C that it's a tighter adjustment. It's just a different calculation. 1°f or .3°C its almost the same temp fluctuation it's almost 1/3:1 c/f.

I have the ink bird as well one for my main heater, one to control my chiller and back up heater (on a different circuit than my main heater ) so far they work great. And they're wifi so o can get alerts and see the temp patterns over time on the app

They can easy handle 2 x 200w heaters. I’m running a 300w + 150w eheim jagers on mine and works great

Did you plug in a splitter to the single outlet for heat? My Inkbird only has one plug for heat and one for cooling. I'm not sure about the C/F. I swear my tank is much more stable now that I switched to C. maybe its in my head.

The 308 version is for heat and cool, the 306 version is for heat only. I have the wifi 306 and it comes with 2 temp probes and 2 outlets and can be adjusted to have a hysteresis of 0.5 degrees F and 10A load.

Ah, I have the 308 and have been seriously looking at the new BRS set up running two titanium heaters, 200W in my RSR450. I recently added some good stuff and looking to up my game.

I have the 306 wifi which has the 2 temp probes and works well. And I just bough the 306 wifi to run my chiller and back up heater. But it had the metal temp probe, so I bought a replacement plastic one and replaced it before I put it into use.

Yeah I used a splitter. The cooling plug will be used as a stray voltage line as I don’t have many plugs to spare.

I just split mine and have a Eheim 250 and added a 150 I had as a spare. That might be enough to maintain 77.5 at night when the house temp falls down to 63.
