New Inovative Marine EXT150

Hey guys would like an opinion
I purchased a 150 EXT 2 months ago everything was transferred from old 72 gallon tank. New tank is stable and well
I recently noticed the back black acrylic panel that is glued to the rear glass wall is separating/buckling
Inovative marine offered a 300 dollor credit with them or Top shelf aquatics
Or send me a new tank after i etch with a nail on the front glass panel VOID
I could probably fix it with some aquarium adhesive and clamps but its not what I would want to do
And thinking about transferring sand and livestock to another tank again really is a task im not looking forward to
What would you do?

Looks like the external overflow model.

Yes it is but it is the EXT which is the external overflow

Thanks, that's disheartening.....I thought they got away from those plastic inserts........big negative for me.

I was looking real hard at the 170ext.
I may have to rethink.

I wonder why it's buckling?
Either the material is bad, IE, absorbing water(expanding) or was buckled before applied to the glass,
Or, it swelled, or to say, became longer, and had no room to expand because of the side glass. So naturally it has to buckle in the middle.

I would definatly opt for a new tank.

Most builders just put the black on the outside of the tank. Having this plastic on the inside is a little strange.

Nope, entire back wall is an acrylic insert.

I think the insert design is specifically because of how the EXT is designed with no visible overflow parts in the tank. Mine fortunately hasn't buckled and it's been running for >1 year now.

Many manufacturers have better plans in place than slapping a giant insert on the back wall for external overflows.

Guess I'll have to go with them or do a custom when the time comes.

I have the ext 170. Look where the black backing comes in contact with the ext overflow. There is a gap just below the weir on mine. I ran a bead of black silicone and filled it in. With the gap the overflow water flows into and then over the gap. May or may not have caused the issue.
No way now as the water flows over the bead.
