I am having a 900 gal reef tank built for my office. It is made of 1 1/4 plexiglass with radius corners. The architect had designed it as a built-in look. So I expected that the stand would be built approximately 5/8" smaller than the tank to allow for drywall and cabinetry. This way we could apply a strip of batting and it would lay flush on the tank as well as the base. I am being told that the stand needs to be 1/4 of an inch larger than the tank or that the plexiglass tank will spiderweb crack. It is This will leave an ugly narrow ledge where the two come together takes away from the built-in appearance. Can anybody give me any guidance on this issue?
