Just setup the Kamoer auto top off and run believe the optical sensor is broken, does anyone have one and might have experience with this?

My issue appears to be as such - Initially the ATO will successfully fill to the optical sensor level, and then stop. A few minutes later, it will then begin to continue filling until the fail safe float valve cuts it off and the alarm begins to go off to alert me to potential overflowing.

I can unplug it, and it will repeat this process.

Is it the optical sensor that’s broken? Maybe some water got inside the sensor since it appears the rubber O-Ring may have been broken?

I’ve just replaced with another Kamoa… same thing is happening.

After an hour or so it just randomly starts filling up and doesn’t stop until it hits the float switch, why is the optical sensor so bad on this???

Either I’m missing something or this is the worst piece of equipment on offer

Tried moving the float switch away from the optical sensor which doesn’t seem to help

I’m having the same thing happen to me. Did you discover what was happening?

It was two things.

Initially, I had broken the O-Ring seal on the optical sensor which I believe allowed water to enter the sensor so it would send it haywire.

If the O-Ring looks intact, I had a second issue after replacing it (in which the same issue arose) and I found out that was due to micro-bubbles produced from my skimmer. It does say in the manual that micro bubbles can cause it to run endlessly or run when not needed. I would look to eliminate micro bubbles if you have any.

Geez, I just ordered one yesterday after countless hours of research. This one seemed to be the best bang for the buck and I read a reveiw of someone praising the first model! This one had sensors instead of float switches and I liked the idea that the pump turns off if the reservoir is empty! I dont think first model has that!

I am so confused. I have no idea what to get and if I should return this!

Are yall still having problems?

I may just get the tunze thats so highly praised! I figured since I only have a 36 gallon plus 10 gallon sump and 5 gallon resevior that I maybe ok if it did malfunction but I sure dont woke to be woke all the time with alarms! I also may start dosing with kalk and that could be a big problem if malfunctions! HELP! LOL

I have always topped by hand because I dont trust these things but cant keep skimmer running nor salinty stable!

I’ve had the same problem, only may be worse. It went on by its own and flooded the sump with 22 gallons of freshwater.. trying to deal Kamoer is it very slow process, now it looks like they want me to send a unit somewhere so they can look at it. it’s taking a week to just get to where their suggesting I might have to do that.

I’m gonna ditch it and purchase either a Tunze or a Red Sea ATO.
