The future wifi dongle will be the control method they're saying will "support" Apex. Out of the box there is no external controller support, only the v2 spectral unit. I will believe Apex support when I see it, though I don't think they will be able to weasel out of support for this release like they have the AP700.

I am not sure on the A360X. I really wanted one when they first announced them a while back but now I don't know. I have an IM Nuvo 40 with a Kessil A360WE on it but I am thinking a little differently now after talking with some forum members and reading through some threads about a hybrid T5 like the Aquatic Life. Kind of waiting to see how the 1 cord version aquatic life will be and if I can come up with a way to mount it. So my decision really depends on if I need to stay with single A360WE, move to single A360X, A360WE/T5 hybrid, or A360X/T5 hybrid. Like I said I was initially excited about the A360X but I don't know if I can justify $548 for the light and controller if it isn't that much of an upgrade. I need to see some hands on reviews.

Happy to see a new model, but playing catch up with features and not matching them on release is pretty tough to swallow for $450... Heck two of those are the price of orphek v4 which is easily the most impressive reef light I have ever seen having used many kessils, AI and ecotech. I just don't think 2 360x are equal to the v4 unless you have a specific use for the can lights. (guess they are no longer can, but more disks)

I would keep your can, these are not worth an upgrade from 360's considering the costs required and the loss you'll be taking after selling that perfectly fine 360. The lens colour profile is slightly different visually if you look at an AP700 vs a 360 at certain profiles side by side, and unless I'm mistaken even Mr. Lowry has commented that they're essentially the same cluster / diode / lense assembly as the AP700. Simply replacing the 360 with a 360X I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference with visual colouring. Coverage and luminescence may be slightly better, but it's still a single point light source at the end of the day and for coverage (for SPS), wont hold a candle to a T5 hybrid fixture that will get complete blanket coverage over the tank.

I will NOT be upgrading my QTY - 9, A360we's as they changed the control port to NON low voltage (0-10). I control my lights through Control4 Smart home light switches which will NOT work with the new interface, DRATTS !!!!!!!! was looking forward to this upgrade. BUMMER
