My R2R folks! Recently I decided to upgrade my 75g lights to two panels of 60 x 5 WATT LED. However, regardless of where I plug one of the panels in, it causes my breaker to reset/trigger. The only way it won't trigger the breaker right away is if I leave it on the min setting.. but even then after a few minutes it might still trigger the breaker.

Any help/suggestions? I've done some research and I'm really not wanting to have to call an electrician or return the lights?

Is the breaker a 15 or 20 amp breaker?
It is definitely an overload if it trips.

It looks like the living room is on a 15 amp breaker. Considering it sounds like an overload, what are my options and what do you recommend? I'd hate to have to call an electrician to get a whole new breaker put in for just the fish tank.. but I certainly don't want to let this go.

Thoughts on the lights I bought? Would I be having this issue regardless which ones I bought?

Just curious in running my tank soon to be in 15amp which is like 1600-1800 watts which even with LEDs and equipment I shouldn't be close. What would make that trip?

The best thing to do for a tank is to have a dedicated gfci breaker to it. 20 amp 12 aug wire
A 15 amp circuit only uses 14 aug wire. (Unless it is 12 aug then you can go to a 20 amp breaker)

If it is tripping then the circuit as a whole is over loaded.

I have a deticated room for my fish tank it's on a 15amp would this be consider a deticated breaker?

Breakers get old like everything else. I'd replace that first.
