I would like to take the time to share my experience of witnessing the birth of a turbo snail. I noticed one in my tank looked very odd so I watched it for a while abd *pop* out comes a tiny baby snail. So, question for anyone else who has experienced this. I have about 6 hermit crabs in my tank. What should I do should the baby snail? do you think the hermits will kill it?

Most interesting! Are you sure it's a Turbo, because it seems that turbo has different meaning to different folks. I say this because to the best of my knowledge, turbos are not viviparous...that is, live bearing. They are oviparous....egg laying. Now I do know that there are a few snails that are live bearing, but most are egg laying. Also, Turbos are tough nuts to breed in a tank.

Turbo snail are solely egg layers I believe, so no intervention is warranted. Yes hermits will kill smaller snail types. You could collect the snail and put it in a sump.

Here's my guess what's going on......you've had an "outbreak" of Collonista snails.....very small little snails. I get this outbreak every once in a while......not sure what causes it....full moon.....who knows. I think you just so happen to see the turbo crusing over the Collonista and thought it "popped" out of the turbo. Do you have a bunch of these "mini-turbos" in your tank? And can you get a picture? Better yet, Google Collonista snails and see if that's what you have.

Interesting. Good call on turbos being egg bearing. Redfishbluefish I did Google collonista that's not what this looks like. I can't get a picture of it at the moment I will try to post I've asap
