so I finally got a light meter to check par. To my surprise my par is very low, like 100 at mid point where my sps are. I noticed a while back that my t-5 lights seemed dimmer but just forgot about it. Will have to figure out the problem with the fixture but as of now I set up my 36 inch ATIpowermodule. Wow , it’s some kind of great light. Love the led shimmer.
Question, with the light off the tank at 17 inches and the fixture adjusted down to around 50% how long should I take adjusting to higher par. My goal is around 400 just under the surface.
I plan to leave the light at the present height and just adjust the bulb intensities every week or so.
Just looking for any devise based on experience.
Thank you,
Jim

I’m honestly not sure of the max par on the Led alone.

I’d try to hit 150 200 in the spot you metered at 100. And go up every two weeks. 50-100 par at a time.

For ease (and dry hands ) meter the top of the water and make notes of the peak spots and adjust there rather than in the tank. (After you hit the mid tank reading )
Scan the top of the water and you’ll “see” the hot spots and dead spots.

Find a peak in a spot next to a place you’ll rember , a brace perhaps.

Seems counter intuitive, but it’s not really, just different than the reef tank norm.
Basically , if you’re adding 50 par to the top of the water , your adding it to the bottom too.

I’m doing it here with a par and also a lux meter.

Thanks for the advice. I don't Have a lot of sps yet but would prefer to keep what I have rather then melt it down. I look forward to seeing how the tank reacts to more normal par. Appreciate the help!
