Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my light, I purchased the 15-24 marine fluval light it looks good but it's not quite powerful enough but I wanted it since it would sit nicely in the hood. But I feel I will have to get rid of the hood and find another covering for the tank. But I'm looking right now at the AI prime 16 HD reef light with the tank mount now my question is since the light will cover more then I need dose anyone else use it on their smaller tanks, is it overpowering? and also any recommendations for some kind of cover? I'm just trying to keep dogbhair out of the tank as my dog sheds like no other...

On my 13.5 I went with a Kessil A80 blue which I'd recommend, but if you are looking for something a little more automated the AI 16 HD is the way to go. It'll be perfect for your tank, I would recommend looking up light schedules so you can adjust the intensity, color etc based on your tank type.

Thank you, I was debating on the Kessil but the lack of integrated controls had me on the fence. The Fluval light was having issues keeping the schedule so I am going to be returning it. I'm thinking I'm going to get the AI prime. I found after posting a few videos of another 13.5 with the AI and it looked great and didn't seem to overpower the surrounding area that was my biggest concern since the AI is rated for a 24+24 tank I'm excited for the par ratings as the AI advertises over 100 par at 24 inches deep and my max to sand bed is about 14.
