Hi all,

So I want to upgrade my lights, I'm currently running a black box led and a red sea 50 for a 45 gallon frag tank that is 48x18x10, either of the lights I have don't have the colors popping on the coral.
Any suggestions? shouldnI lean toward Ecotech and AI that have move control over UV? It doesn't look like Kessil has as much UV option/control, seems like its blended like the Red Sea.
Also do I go with one fixture centered above, can be higher up as this tank is in the basement, or two units?

I've played some with true UV (400nm and lower) and IMHO it really doesn't make fluorescing corals any more fluorescent than good 430nm to 460nm blue leds. If your corals don't fluoresce well under all blue leds with a good black box led fixture, a more expensive one probably won't help much if at all.

How old is your BB fixture and do you know what brand it is?

The fixture is less then a year of use and its luexong I believe. Im a lottle concerned afyer watching the BRS video on BB fire potential

I'm not a big fan of BRS as too much of their video stuff is just self serving BS and marketing toward the stuff they sell. They don't sell BB fixtures, so lets spread the rumor that there is a potential fire hazard.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. The EcoTech Radion I had ran hotter than any led fixture I've ever owned. I use Reef Breeders Photons now and they run so cool the fans rarely kick on and being in SW Florida, even our house is near 80 degrees!
