I am new here. I looking for T5HO for a 30 gal. 30x16x10. The bulbs can be 30, I found the hard way they don't make 30 in ATI, Gieseman. I can't hung the light for ceiling, I don't care if the lights over the hang the tank. I am 73 and suffer from a stroke, and I my mind has a very hard time under stand. Thanks Ed

First, Welcome to R2R! Have you considered using LEDs over your tank. You could mount them on the rim of your tank. They are pretty much maintenance free and last for at least 10 yrs. We have vendors on the forum that have reasonably priced units. Check them out and let us know if you have any other questions:)

Ed,
There are many LED vendors on this site. Just a couple are ReefBreeders's Photon, SB Reef lights. It depends on what you want to have for livestock and what your budget is. Ecotech Marine, Kessil, Reef Brites are very good LED lights if your budget permits. Most of these lights are tank mountable. What are you going to keep in your tank? What is your budget? Also you would need to have some way of testing your light PAR to make sure you are getting what you need as far as light intensity in your tank. There are a few downloadable programs that can measure your light output in LUX and then your convert it into PAR. @saltyfilmfolks has posted some good threads about converting lux to par measurements. I hope this will help you selecting your lighting.

Hi Ed!
I've been thinking about your light needs.
Some leds can be complicated to set up and are hard to mount. Especially some of the popular the less expensive. And may not be the prettiest over the tank.
So I can suggest some of those easier ones to you. But budget can be an issue.

Some of the t5s like your other thread are pretty good, but there can be some heat. And you may want to look at ones with timers built in. And there are some decent reasonably priced ones I can suggest
