Hey guys,

I bought a LTA last night. We tried making a hole for the foot so it could try and attach to the glass underneath the sand but it just didn't seem to want to hold on. I left it for the night and this morning it still doesn't seem to have buried the foot and attached. It's mouth is also open and I'm worried it's just not happy and healthy and whether I should just take it back.

With a new LTA do you usually need to help it literally bury it's foot and then it's happy, or if it's happy should it be doing this on it's own?

I would pile small and medium rock on him. Becareful not to injure (poke a hole in him). If he is heatkhy he will attach to the rock then use it as leverage to dig down into the sand. Unless he attach to something, he cannot just dig down into the sand.

Was it attached at the store you got it from or just floating around/sitting on the bottom?

It was yeah. I think it was just stressed out. I left it alone today with all the flow turned off and it buried it's foot pretty good, then tonight when it retracted with the lights off I gathered more sand around it to support it. I think it's okay.

Yeah I only have decent size rocks so I was hoping to just support it with a deep sand hole. Today it buried it's foot pretty good and I helped support it with more sand around the base when it retracted tonight. I think it's healthy :) Thanks

you can dig a sand hole, put him in it and them put a flat rock on top. That way he have leverage to dig down.

Yo having this same issue.. so you're telling me I can dig down in the sand and just put a big ol piece of flat rock on him and he'll attach? Right now I've got him like this. After lights were out so I could see his foot better.
