New Lyretail Anthias Trio

Mitch, your tank is looking awesome. You will be happy when you get that mandarin.

Thanks bro. I just like the fact that you have good corals and enough room to have some killer fish. If I ever decide to get a mandarin, but the horror stories about them scare me. Wild caught are hard to feed (without a bunch of pods) and people lose tank raised ones for unexplained reasons.

if u want pods run chaeto or algae scrubbers then shake em off in tank every so often. chaeto would obv be easier for u to do if u wanted a mandarin.

also my female anthias looks red with just blue leds on. but yea i noticed under reef type lights most fish look much better .. my malanurus was same looks much better under good lights as oppose to when i had stock bulbs.

hey Chris, do your anthias go to bed early? Ie, have they found their night time spot before the lights go out? I have noticed that mine will go to bed about an hour before the lights go out....

Not that I have noticed, but I am out of town for work. The first few nights they were up till the moonlights came on. But I'll check it out tonight and get back to you.

Thanks bro. I just found it odd. My lights run from 12p-10p but ramp up and down for 1.5 hours.

first off let me say this, my anthias are very personable, and when I approach the tank, they come up to the front of the glass to say hello....pretty much everytime. So last night when the moon lights came on, I went to see if they were asleep already, and all 3 came out to say hello...I think they are just little pigs and are looking for food, whether they are asleep already or not. :)

Maybe that yours is alone has something to do with it's behavior compared to having a trio or full on harem????

Maybe... I have noticed that mine is already coming ot the tank with the others at feeding time. Still spitting out the flakes but does very well on cyclopeze. Guess ill have to train the wife to feed both daily when I am gone.

Cyclopeze is PACKED with protein. Both are very close in protein actually..... Honestly, I ahve never been a big fan of Mysis. I have always had really good success on fattening up a fish with the cyclopeze.
