I was going to thin out the chaeto in my fuge today and saw this. I've had the same chaeto in the fuge for probably 8 months and never seen it before. I flip the chaeto every few days, so you would think I would have seen it before. Only recent change is that I recently started dosing Red Sea trace. Two questions. What is it, and should I keep it?

It lloks like saw tooth caulerpa. Id keep it. Im more impressed that your chaeto has corraline growing on it! Wow

Yeh. The coraline grows like crazy in my sump. I had to make a shade to try to keep the light out of the skimmer section. Still have to clean it often. Just seems weird that caulerpa would just appear now. I guess it's a good thing?

Its okay in your fuge but could take over the display tank if it gets there.

If it did get into the display, would the tangs take care of it?

Not sure if all tangs but my foxface rabbitfish eats bubble algae and a little hair algae. He also eats chaeto i grow. I dont think it will get in the tank unless you put it there.
