New Mandarin

I added a manny about a month ago. Doesn't look fat and plump, but he's probably still settling in. As with any new manny owner, there's a bit of paranoia if he/she is getting enough to eat. What I did was stick a small net mesh bag (that grocery store oranges come in) with chaeto in the back corner to serve as an intank mini fruge in addition to the main fuge of course. Because it's high the lights really hit it and grows fast so I imagine full of pods inside. That became a little feeding station for mine as he seems to frequent that corner in addition to the usual rock bug hunting. Seems to supplement for now or at least makes me feel better while my pods keep up.

My spotted eats scallops, bloodworms, mysis, brine, mega angel, and clam. He is a chunker!

Don't wait to start trying to feed it, I would use mysis, add copipods at least once a week now. Turn the pumps off and just squirt the mysis close so that it wafts around it, not straight in it's face.
They like to be fed but will hunt all day, natural instinct, don't rely on your natural food unless you have a lot of very established Rock.
Just currently trying to rescue a really thin green spot, only took it on because of how much natural food is available in my tank, I also have a green mandarin (chubby) and a black scooter (fit).

These are my two beauties! The baby(Drifty), I rescused out of the LFS's tank, cause she was rail thin, and I thought I could give her a chance and I am glad I did! She plumped up well and follows my bigger mandarin (Sifty) around! Great fish if you have the proper set up!

How beautiful they are

Is anybody quarantining their Mandy's? If so, what and how are you feeding them? In QT?
I never quarantine my fish. Mandarins are pretty resilient. I had ich on my flame angel. Just used Medic from Polyp Lab for 20 days as directed. No more ich or I am living with ich and it has no chance of reproduction, because the slime coats on my 6 fish are all healthy and the parasite can't attach itself to them. It has been since July 4th since I stopped using it. No sign of it still after a whole month and a half.

Are you kidding me! That fish is gorgeous! One of the beautiful ones I have ever seen
Thanks Justin! He truly is. B is a great tank mate. Buzzes around the tank like a bee going from flower to flower. He does some weird stuff, but very lucky to have him.

I would have preferred to quarantine mine, he is the only fish I have who was not quarantined. I felt the risk of malnutrition/ starvation was greater than the risk of disease. I am still holding my breath a little. 1 week today and all is well.
