Hi! I am new to this page and I first wanted to introduce myself! I recently started a Reef Aquarium. I’ve had it cycling for several weeks now and decided to put in some blue/green Chromis. After a day one of the fish started getting this red patch on him and after some research we think it may be Uronema. The other fish still look to be healthy but I want to see if this is what in fact this is and what my next steps should be. Anything helps!!

Are these fish in QT or the DT? It looks like uronema and if so it will always be in the DT unless a full tear down and sterilization occur. Uronema I think is the one I have nightmares about. Ich and velvet will at least die off with a fallow period but uronema can live indefinitely without a host.

If they are in a QT then good for you for keeping that out of the DT.

Welcome to R2R!

That does unfortunately look like uronema and you should treatment ASAP. I
Would start with a ruby rally bath followed by metro and also try feeding metro bound to focus. You may repeat baths every 24hrs to buy some time before the antibiotics can kick in.

As stated above, if the fish is in your display tank, you cannot return the fish back to that tank and should in general avoid chromis and anthias in that tank unless it gets sterilized.

We have a 65 gallon tank and we have a over the back filtration system with a protein skimmer.

Unfortunately they were placed into our DT. In that case do we have to tank down the whole tank or is there ways we can get rid of it without doing that?

You can keep it running but the uronema will always be there and like @EmdeReef said, fish more susceptible to it will most likely not survive unless taken down, dried, sterilized, and started over with cycling.
