Hello my name is Donald and I am New to the site. I've had a reef setup off and on for the past 5 years now. I've moved a bunch and moving a tank around can be a pain. Long story short I'm married now and we purchased a small townhouse in alabaster al. So now I can start the tank I've always wanted. I have to start small and work my way up. I've had a 20 gal setup for about a year now. I'm proud of the success and failures I've overcome with this tank. Thanks for reading, here's some pictures!

Welcome to r2r!

What are you thinking about doing when you upgrade?

*Welcome to Reef2Reef,Donald!* Your tank must have adequate levels of calcium, alkalinity and magnesium for the coraline to grow.

Oh neat! The only thing I really do to my tank is use instant ocean reef crystals. Maybe that's where all the good levels are coming from and my skimmer is taking out all the bad?

Had a Remora skimmer once. Couldn't ever get it dialed into skim good enough for me. The Reef Octopus hang on back BH2000 is a better skimmer I'd think. Prob around the same price also.

My remora does skim quite a bit I have it set more of a dry skim and I feel like it gets a good bit out. Lots of nasty black brown goo every now and then. It's the only one I've ever had so I don't have anything to compare it to. I've contacted the customer service twice about the remora and both time I got shipped free parts. Great customer service. The pump is a little noisy though and huge in my 20gal.

Most likely, reef crystals are pretty good and it sounds like you have a nice skimmer.
