Hello all,

I am a new member but have spent countless hours on the board reading topics. I Am having a serious issue and am hoping for some guidance.

I have been reefing since1992 and have been luck enough to not have any major issues until now.
I setup a CAD92 for my daughter roughly 7 months ago cycle went fine probably stocked it a bit heavy early but again no major issues. SPS, LPS, 2 Nems
2 Cardinal
3 Anthias
1 MD Adult Emperator (never bothered anything)
1 Powder Blue Tang
1 yellow Goby
3 clown
Tons of cleanup crew
Fuge with Macro
GFO/Carbon (run every other week)
100 micron socks
4 AI PrimeHD
1 AI Refugium light

Temp 76
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
1.025 salinity

added a Rose BTA last Saturday and it was doing fine clowns went right to it. Left out of town from Monday for 2 days. Came back Wednesday to MAJOR Issues!!! Angel and Tang were paying on their side very pale and eyes Fogged over, 3 clowns were dead looks like hair or red slime everywhere. Did a 50% water change, next day Cardinals and Anthias dead. No fish alive BUT all coral, cleanup, Zoe’s and Nem seem okay.
Fuge has massive amount of green hair algae with the Chaeto l.
Just did another 40% water change today but other then the Nitrates being at 20 everything seems okay. Have not measure Phosphates my kit is empty but can’t imaging that would wipe out the fish.
only thing I can think of is maybe when the Algae spike hit it suffocated the fish by removing the O2?

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

when was your last fish addition? Was everything ran through quarantine before putting in the tank? Could be a parasite that took them out, and the nutrient spike resulting from the dead fish.

Last fish were added about a week ago the Anthias, I did a short QT, 5 days with dip.

BTW-all fish haven’t died, I see a coral beauty snuck out from a rock. But everything else did

How does she look? Is she showing any kind of symptoms of anything?

Looks fine, it’s so strange. I fully expected Ammonia or Nitrite spike but nothing. I really didn’t think about parasites because it happened so fast I have never had a parasite issue in 20+ years I am researching now what parasite could move that quick

Velvet is the most likely culprit. Kills within 48 hours if left untreated. It’s much more common today than it was 20 or even 10 years ago.
