Could have been the process of moving an existing tank that kicked off a mini-cycle or a series of them. Chasing the issue usually ensues...try not to do that. Keep the key parameters stable (alk, cal, mag, salinity, temp) and try as much as possible to allow everything to re-establish and balance out. 1 year in, you were just hitting the point of stability.
