HI I am new to reef2reef as a member, but have been a lurker for about 6 months. I have 4' x 2' tank with the sump in the basement. the tank has been running since 6/2019. Started with real rock and about inch of sand. I had a large tank in the 300 gallon in the 90's which was very successful with soft corals and Hammer corals. This tank not so much went through cyno and still dealing with dinos they seem to be on the decline though after adding the UV and supplementing phosphate and nitrate daily.
My fish do great as do soft corals and just recently Acans or Micromusa. Everything else dies within a week. Trying for a LPS tank.
Anyway just decide to join express my gratitude for all the advice in this forum. Also I have one thing to contribute. This may be well known but have not seen it. Got outbreak of vermetid snails recently and was researching what to do and not doing anything about for awhile. I had some Mexican red leg hermits that started getting bigger and a few days ago starting watching them eating thru the snails; I was surprised (although I only have the tiny red/purple ones). They have cleared out all of them that they can reach. Of course in this hobby nothing works all the time but just thought I would put it out there for what it is worth.
