Got this bad boy today from the WWC live sale for $5, if you know anything about the live sales you gotta be fast to win so I got it without fully studying it.

I have zero experience with SPS, is this monti a encrusting or plating variant? And how can you tell when it’s this small?

From the pic it looks like it’s the encrusting type
I was leaning towards the same conclusion, unfortunately My tank is a biocube 32 with the stock light, not so sure the light will be strong enough, and I don’t really have a elevated spot for it either .

Encrusting.
Moderate light and water flow.
Ph range 8.1=8.3
temp 77-79
salinity 1.024-1.026
alk 8-9
Mag 1300-1325
CA 425-450

You could always get a stronger light and put them on the bottom like this digi monti.

On the bottom? Wouldn’t sand tick it off? A new light is Gonna have to wait awhile longer. I think on the back wall has its merits, but I’ll try it out on a rock temporarily If it’s looking ticked off I’ll move it up higher

Lol, my tank is bare bottom no sand.
If you have sand then the bottom wont work.
A magnetic frag holder will allow you to position it at different levels to determine what it likes best.
