New montipora spongodes

Well got this guy today from a friend sorry best photo I could get my fish keep blocking shot they like getting there photo takin. So does anyone have any general care for them

Got mine on high light and flow. Bright green. Careful grows fast and encrusts on everything. Might start shading other corals if placed hight. It grows like a cap, branches, and encrusts.

Under very intense lighting mine had purple tips. mine grew ike a weed so i got rid of it.

do you guys all use a calc reactor to get such growth on sps or have you had good experiences with simple dosing?

I just use Kalk in ato and water changes it works awsome

i have always only used a two part calcium / alkalinity buffer . I've never tried kalk or a calcium reactor. I probably should though

Mine grows like crazy as well. Only dosing. I swear you could take that out of the water, play catch with it for a few days and return all the pieces to the tank and they would just reform bigger and nicer. This is one coral I would say is bullet proof.

there is a frag at my lfs, and i've been eyeing it. I had a pretty large piece in my old tank a couple years ago but never had that great of growth rate.

Have mine 3/4 of the way down in my 220 with good flow on it. Seams to be happy, good polyp ext. Sorry for the blue, (iPhone) will post some more pics tomorrow when lights come on.

My frag is kinda shaped like yours lol except yours has more branches, This is a pic of mine when I first got it, I keep it on low light and high flow it has nice color and can be a very fast grower.

I got mine as a frag about 2 years ago. It's directly under a led so it gets tons of light. It will grow over anything in its way

I'm using a radion Gen 3 pro over mine, I'll get an update pic when I get home, We also have one in our display tank at work under radion Gen 2 pros and it's growing really really fast and ill get a pic of that one for ya to.
