New nano reef tank

I have recently purchased a 13 gallon nano reef tank and I have just fed it brine shrimp to try and help the cycling my ammonia levels at 1.0 and my nitrates, nitrite are still zero and it's been a week could somebody help me what am I doing wrong

Welcome to R2R!! Have you added some nitrifying bacteria or live rock in your tank? You need something to consume ammonia.

Welcome! Doesn't sound like your doing anything wrong. Give it some time and I would add ammonia directly

Ok I have 2 small and 1 medium size live rock. I just figured out how to work the protein skimmer has been running for about 5 days and it didn't do anything turns out it was loose at the bottom water was just coming right back out so I'm just getting that going right now the bubbles finally in the Box

No I put in live sand and live rock!

I would still give it a boost if you do not have nitrites after 24 hours and no reduction in ammonia
