Hi everyone, I will try to keep this brief. I have been into keeping reed tanks for awhile now. My most recent tank was a 40 gallon AIO that unfortunately did not make it through a hurricane a few years ago. I have not kept up with the hobby since then. I would like to get back into it but I was never good at picking equipment. I want to do a very small tank this time, maybe 5-14 gallons max. I want to keep a yellow goby and pistol shrimp along with the general array of hermits and snails. Besides that I would like to focus on corals. Before my old tank died off I was just learning how to successfully keep sps corals. I would like to get back into that. So far this is the equipment I had in mind:

1) AquaMaxx Long Rimless Aquarium - 12 gallon
2) AquaMaxx HOB refugium (size may be an issue)
3) Reef Glass Nano protein skimmer and pump
4) LED potential lights
a)Two Kessil A80’s
b) one hydra 26
c) Maxspect RS-100
d) or any other recommendations
5) ecotech MP10 with quiet drive

That’s all I got so far. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I know this equipment should really go on a bigger tank but I want to make an incredible nano tank. Thank you all in advance.

That’s a lot of power in a small tank. Following along. :)

I have a 12 Long

That’s beautiful! I know it’s more than I need but I just started looking today and I am too excited lol. I’m honestly just worried about size of everything. I want it to fit and still look nice. The refugium might be an issue.

Mine is on a book case which works with my minimalist approach...... otherwise nothing would fit!

Oh that sounds like a nice idea. I am not that refined so instead I wanted to put it on a dresser under my tv lol.

The biggest issue I found with the length is flow. I have a power head on each end to keep it circulating nicely.

No filter. I currently have a Jaebo WP10 on each end, a heater and my light. That’s it!
Wow! That’s pretty impressive, how often do you change water? I would love to try out making a sump for the tank but that’s a little more space than I want to take up.
