I recently bought a used empty Nanocube 28g for cheap off Craigslist and I'd love some advice. I have added 40lbs of live sand, some dry rock and a large chunk (maybe 25 lbs) of very live rock. I have had it cycling for about a week now and plan on waiting for my cycle to complete before adding livestock (although a hermit crab and some aiptasia that will be dealt with soon came along for the ride).

My ideal setup would be some soft and LPS, an anenome and some clowns.

My question is, can anyone recommend some non-bank breaking ideas that don't take a genius handyman for upgrading lighting and filtration (skimmer) that ideally works with the stock lid.

Rapidled makes a decent kit for these tanks, I have one in my 28 jbj with a storm controller, and I'm satisfied, the directions were fair but the customer support was absolutely excellent. My tank is a mixed reef and I've noticed pretty decent Sps growth but exceptional LPS I'd recommend it

Nanoboxreef makes a controllable led retro for these and you can put anything under these lights. You can also check out steves led.
