WHO WANTS TO SEE MY TWO NEW NANO TANK SET UPS??

okay, so for those of you who read my “did i get cheated?” thread know that i also got two nano-sized tanks— a 20 and a 10 gallon tank. i’m setting up two tanks at once, but it’s okay guys. i’ve got this.

the 20... i’m not really sure what’s going on it yet. it’ll kind of just be a “oh hey thats a nano coral” or “oh hey, what a cute little fish you are” kind of tank— but it will NEVER be over stocked. it’ll just be a small, cute tank. with small cute fish. and small cute colorful corals.

next, my 10 gallon. i bought this knowing exactly what’s going in it. a purple spot mantis shrimp. i’m getting my new mantis at just an inch long, so it will fit in the tank at least temporarily for the time being. i found one for relatively cheap and i’ve been wanted one to observe for awhile. so i’m really excited to get him soon.

i’ve got both tanks filled with live sand, which i just split a 25 pound bag of argonite sand between the two of them. along with a mixture of base and live rock, a bottle of some bacteria and phyto-plankton, and filled up with some saltwater that i managed to make. these are both going to be cheap builds, as i had everything on hand anyways, except for the tanks. i still need a mini heater for the mantis tank, and another’s powerhead for the 20 because the one i had for it will not stick to the side of the glass for the life of me, but it’s also kind of old.

i only got a picture of the 20 before i put all the water in it and made the water cloudy, and i didn’t get any pictures of the mantis tank because i forgot and had already got it filled up with water and currently the tanks are cloudy... plus it’s 2 AM and i don’t want to go take new pictures because i’m comfortable in my bed. maybe tomorrow? here’s the 20 gallon before i put the water in it.

i’ll post pictures of it here as it comes along and i’ll post the unboxing of the animal’s and corals that will be in the tank. let’s make this an adventure since i didn’t include you guys in the ‘big’ builds. oops?

lol sorry for disappearing into the sea for quite some time. i was really busy with graduating and work and starting college soon but just because i wasn’t on here, doesn’t mean my tanks were lacking attention! i’ve still got fat, happy fish who’s lighting schedules are out of whack because i don’t get home until midnight— but that’s a topic for another day

water is still foggy and sandy, but it’s okay! currently have the power head out of the 20 and in my main display because the one i have broke last night and messed up the ENTIRE tank. sand on top of every. single. rock. and all my hermits and crabs are covered in sand because of the fact that the power head broke and was aiming straight down and blew sand everywhere. only assuming it was too old or my new naso knocked it off while picking algae off of it. but as soon as the water clears up in the display, i’ll put that powerhead back and get a new one later today.

as for the mantis tank, i’m currently using a power head that’s a little too big, but i will be placing it in a different tank once my actual filter comes for both tanks. i may have rushed it a little bit but yolo, and not like there’s any fish in it yet so there isn’t much harm it can do. salinity is perfect. i’ll post more pictures once the water clears
