Well first off I've been out of the hobby for 4 years now and I have missed it ever since i took down my last tank. During the time of being in the hobby I accumulated a lot of tanks and gear (the addiction is real) Haha. At the time I Bought a 2 month old nuvo 20g that I was going to set up but I never got around to it and then I ended up shutting down my main tank and never started it back up. Well after 4 years I decided it was time to get things going again and I decided to setup that 20g nuvo. So this thread/post is kind of a build thread, Here goes nothing.

This is the stand that I built for it. It's made from 2x4s that I have secured together 2.5 inch long corset kreg screws. These are the screwes that are recommended for the wood thickness and for the pocket hole jig I used. I I decided to used pocket holes becuase I thought it would have a cleaner look to it. I have it topped with a piece of 3/4 plywood that will have a piece of foam onto of that for the tank to sit on. I'm then going to wrap the stand with MDF that is held in place my magnets so I can easily remove the sides to access equipment in the stand. I'm going to keep it simple and paint the MDF black and the inside of the stand white. I've thought about adding a vertical 2x4 in the rear so that the rear piece isn't supported only by the screws. But honestly with this being such a small tank I think how its build it plenty strong enough. I'm 150lbs and when I sit on it and bounce it doesn't even move. So far I think this is a good start, what do you guys think?

Well I got the first coat of paint on the stand today going to finish the second cost tmrw along with the sides of the stand. While waiting for paint to dry I got my old rock out of the bleach/water bath they have been in for a week and gsve them a good wash. Going to put them back in a buck of regular water tmrw and give them a good soak just to make sure all of the bleach is gone. Things are slowly coming together!! Oh and I also added a vetricle support in the back, truly dont feem it is needed for this tank but hey why not. Haha

Well I put the side panels on the stand today. I put them on with screws but I probably should have used magnets like how the front panel will be secured. I dont like how the side panels look with the screwes. Hopefully when I touch up the panels with black paint that it looks better if not I'll just have to redo it. It's supposed to be a basic clean looking surround but I dont think MDF was the best choice.

Well I got the magnets installed on the front panel. Works as intended but I dont like the Surround as much as I envisioned. Yeah I have to touch up the scew holes on the side still but it just doesn't look as nice as I though it would. Plus the front panel has a slight bow to it so it doesn't sit flush at the top. Not super noticable but I was wanting it to be perfect. I think I'm going to leave it for now and just get the tank up and running and figure out what I'll do next with the surround.
