So I have a new One Spot Foxface, it’s a tiny juvenile, 1 1/2”-2”. He’s been in my display for 4 days, no aggression whatsoever and it’s been out exploring the tank. He picks at the rocks a little but it’s hard to tell if he’s actually eating algae. So far he hasn’t touched NLS pellets, sinking algae pellets, mysis or LRS reef frenzy. Any tips to get him eating? The tanks still going through the uglies so plenty of algae.

Congratulations on the new fish!

Let's see if we can get some help with your question about getting the Foxface to eat. #reefsquad

His color looks good no spines raised so should be settled ok, try a sheet of nori on a clip that way you can see if he’s nibbling it. Mine gave up in algae on rocks lrg and nori sheets for him

One other thing mind liked was frozen herbivore mix. Did you see him eating at store? If so double check what they fed. Keep trying to target feed some other items toward him

They feed mysis at the LFS but he didn't eat when they fed while I was there. They treat all new fish with 14 days of copper before transferring and this guy had just been transferred out of copper that day. Chalked up the lose of appetite to the move. They said he had been eating for the last week and it’s actually a very good LFS so I do believe that’s the case.

Congrats on the foxface, I just picked up one today. Mines already tried eating some scraps of caulerpa that was packed with some emerald crabs. When I turn on the lights tomorrow I'll be throwing in bits of whatever I can to see what he'll go for, but have a bunch of nori and clips ready to go in as well.

Hello!

I have been in a lot of one spot foxface posts lately. Most have to do with eating.

FYI, they have all came around to eating!

So when I first introduced my one spot ( Zorro), he cleared up my tank of what little hair algae I had. No interest in anything else.

After the hair algae was gone he started in on nori and algae pellets. Loves the pellets! In fact he swims up into the auto feeder to get big bites.

And when he sees me or my wife he is front and center hoping for a pinch!

Been in my tank about a year and I have never seen him eat frozen
