New orange shoulder and Magnificent

Just picked up two new fish. They looked fine at my LFS but when I finally pulled them from the bucket after acclimation they appear to have spots. Am I dealing with black ich or bacterial? I have 4 QT tanks going. This is starting to get crazy and I may just do a coral tank to skip the headache.

That looks to be black ich. I’d do a freshwater dip in a dark bucket and see what falls off for immediate relief followed by “prazipro” praziquantel.

*Caution* the magnificent foxface is venomous on the top fins. Don’t touch them during this process.

Believe me... we get it. The good news is that black ich is easily treated. Just watch for secondary bacterial infections from the insertion points.

Thanks. I was so excited when i saw him at my LFS. I immediately bought him. Now i just need to get him healthy. DT has been fallow for 60 days for a velvet outbreak. 30 days left..... I just started this hobby and now have had Black ich, ich, velvet, and Uronema. I think I got it covered....lol!

Still haven’t lost a fish though!!!!

I’d snag kanaplex furan 2 and more metroplex. Enough to treat for 14 days to be safe.

Just my opinion. Take it slow. 1-2 fish at a time. running 4 qt's is a lot of work

I agree. Things were going great for 6 months until I got my purple tang.... I had my clowns, white tail, and yellow tang living in harmony. I shouldn’t have bought the purple tang. She came in with Velvet. Pulled all my fish and treated with copper. At the end of the copper treatment my clown popped up with discoloration and the wisdom on here said likely Uronema. New fish looked fine in the store today.

No additional input, since you’ve gotten good advice, but I don’t suppose your in Atlanta by any chance?

My LFS has an overnight outbreak of black itch this week, on his tangs. I called later and suggested 2 rounds of prazipro so I’m hopeful it’ll be sorted out with minimal losses

25% water change and redose metro and kanaplex every 48 hours except furan is dosed daily.
