He just swims like a missle all day. It doesn't look fun. He doesn't seem relaxed. I can't do much for him. The tank is established and I am not moving anything. I can't because my anemones never come back once I move them. They just diminish. I read these eat hermits which I did not know. I habe spent a lot of money and time on getting hermits and my Picasso Trigger in my other tank just decimated them. I did not know he would. Now I have this guy in my 120. Sorry not liking this fish. I want to. Seems like hes gonna have a problem.

Paddlefin Wrasses are just about my favorites— certainly in my top 5. But like a Lunare Wrasse, they will be a bundle of energy; constant motion! A 120 gallon should be adequate. Give it a little time to settle in and get the lay of the land (rocks), and it will chill a little more to your liking. Give us a photo if you can! ;)

Thalassoma is one genus that will be a nightmare to get settled and enjoy them. They naturally swim a ton and with these guys being a larger wrasse you notice it more and they will swim round constantly.
They do eventually swim round the rocks however they still look hyper. Here’s a video of a happy Queen (T. schwanenfeldii) showing that “pacing” behaviour taken from youtube.

I this fish going to kill hermit crabs? Old owner said no in his tank. But one of my dave hermits kept hiding and then was upside down. Picked him up put him in rock. Right at lights out saw the wrasse right up in him. Had a Picasso Trigger flipping hermits in my other tank. But he was picking them off after flipping them because so many empty shells. ticking me off because some if these I hand picked because they were larger or pretty.

It’s part of their natural diet, they will often pick up shells with hermits and snails in and smash them against the rock to get the crab or snail out of the shell.

Has anyone seen one get a hermit? I had a nice hermit and only his shell is left. Its not broken. Just empty. Was hoping he moved to a larger shell. But don't see him.

Definitely could, I’ve seen a juvenile smashing a snail against the rock just to get it out.

But if the shell isn't broken is it likely that maybe he just pulled the crab out?
Quite possibly yes, these wrasses will often do that as well as hitting the shell on a rock.
