@Aquaforest and @Garywilkinson, I have been using your products for about 5 months now and love them. I want to switch from using BRS 2 part and components strong product to Components 123 but I do not want my ALK and calc parameters to change much for the sake of my sps. I currently dose 75ml of BRS 2 part each day in a 70 gallon tank. Am I able to just switch over and use the same amount of components 123? Any advice would help thank you.

I too am with AF Support team and have experience with Component 123. With alk being the most important parameter of keeping sps, I find that spikes are what to avoid. That being said, I would use a starting point at the same daily amounts you are used to. I locked in by testing only alk everyday at the same time, I used a starting point of 100ml and quickly raised that value to now 230ml per day. If you test everyday at the same time for alk, you will know the next day by testing. I would imagine the ratio is close to BRS, this is why I suggest to use that number as a starting point. When you test tomorrow, if your number lowers, then up the dose on all 3 and repeat the next day. Not to worry over lowered alk, I went as low at 5.3dkh during this process until finally I tested at 5.3 consistently for days. I then tested all parameters and manually dosed to get the levels where I desired. I now only test weekly, and find my numbers fairly close, and all within range. You will be very happy with the switch, I have seen major improvements in coloration since my switch over to Component 123. Cheers

Can you please provide reef test parameter values you recommend. I am still dialing in the proper amounts using the AF Balling method. I am looking for recommended (min-max) values for Alk, Ca, Mg, NO3, PO4, and salinity in ppt. Thank you!

Optimum Water Parameters:

Salinity 33–35 ppt
Ca 410–440 ppm
Mg 1230–1320 ppm
dKH 6.5–8,0 dKH
K 360–400 ppm
No3 <2 ppm
Po4 < 0.04

According to AF guide their 3+ component contains Potassium but if you wanted to dose it separately you can use Kalium from them.

Just started using AF products...my fish LOVE Fish V! Super excited to switch my system over to you salt very soon!

I have a question for you! I am planning on switching over from RedSea to AF, but utilize DOS pumps....what products of yours can I dose with a pump? I have SPS, LPS, and a clam. Thanks!

Kalium is the German word for Potassium so that the product to use

Kalium deficiency shows up in Montipora, he colours start to look washed out, it also associated with Red Colours, test before supplementing as it's not always needed, for many systems water changes and normal dosing is sufficent

Components A B C take care of most of the coral needs which are dosed
NP Pro the carbon source can also be dosed

So I have been using 1+, 2+, 3+ for dosing and the A, B, E, V products with pro bio s, pro bio f, np pro along with zeomix, phosphate minus carbon and the reef salt. I have not gone to the element by element method. Would you recommend I test for K weekly and then purchase the Kalium product for separate dosing as necessary?

Test initially to see where the system is, if its within the recommended levels, just test monthly, if its low then you will need to supplement and testing weekly until its levels are stable

Hi I have been using AF Component 123 for a month now with just half of the recommended dosage 25ml daily to be exact on my 60g tank...should I increase gradually? My pH is now on 7.7-7.9 average from a 7.9-8.2 before dosing.

I'm back...with another question. I have a 65g tank with a 15g sump. I am having a problem with high NO3 and PO4. I am running pro bio s, pro bio f and np pro - 3 drops and 1 scoop daily. I am using AF Reef Salt. I am running Zeomix, phosphate minus and carbon all from AF. I dose Coral A, B, E, V at 3 drops daily for B & E and every other day A & V. I also use Fish V daily and Garlic at 1 drop daily soaked into frozen mysis. Here are my test parameters this morning...

Alk - 8.2 dKH
Ca - 425 ppm
Mg - 1350 ppm
K - 440 ppm
NO3 - 5 ppm
PO4 - 0.14 ppm
Salinity - 34 ppt
Temp - 78 deg F
PH - 8.1 (varies from 8-8.2)

What should I do to reduce my NO3 and PO4 to recommended values?

What is odd is that I have seen no NO3 reduction and an increase of 0.8ppm in PO4 since starting Zeomix, phosphate minus and carbon.

The amount that should be dosed should be the amount consumed daily as to not have any swings in parameters. Please make sure you have a stable alkalinity from day to day without any swings. This becomes your set point for all 3 liquids dosed. Cheers

I would maybe increase flow on the reactor just a bit for starters, but your levels are not really that bad, and according to "Redfield Ratio" the nitrates to phosphates are linear, which is good. They will reduce over time, not sure how long you have had the system going with AF products, but it does take time to get nutrients low, there could have been nutrients bound within the system still processing. Also, the skimmer at this point should be pulling dark stinky skimmate, this is an indicator that the system is working. How does the corals and fish look? Observance is far superior to test results, IMO... Cheers

@Perry @Gary Wilkinson I am running the same products as @samba_dad. My nitrate and phosphates were running very high 10 ppm nitrates, .16 phosphates. I took the Np Pro off line and started running a small amount of bio pellets to bring down the nitrate and phosphate minus to bring down the phosphate to a .04 ppm and my nitrates have come down and most of my green hair algae is gone. I am still having issues with red slim algae.
I was thinking of dosing a small amount of the NP Pro to tackle the red slim, what do you think?

Alk 7.98
No3 7+ ppm
Po4 .04 ppm
salinity 33.1

I feed heavy and my fish and coral look great.
