Products have arrived!!!!! Well most of them at least. Carbon and GFO and reef mineral salt should arrive today.

I know to go slow and seeing as my tank is on the young side I will go even slower.

A few of my more pressing questions are below. But here is a quick overview of my tank.

System volume 100 gallons (75g Display)
3 channel doser
Bioload cleanup crew and 6 fish


Corals

What is the best way to transition to the new salt. I am now out of my old salt so am I safe just doing my normal 20% changes per week?

Can I continue to add Bio S to help keep a healthy nitifying supply?

What is the best way to stack AF Carbon and GFO in my vertex 1.5?

Does starting with 1 drop basically 1/4 dose of the AF elements sound right with the light load I have currently?
First start with 10% water changes for next 6-8 weeks.
If you need to dose components then only dose or leave them at the moment.
Also I dont know your nutrient level so if you run ULNS then only dose amino or else not now.

I'm not running ULNS as I don't have any Zeo type media, my dosing of component is pretty light currently (using up old two part) and I'm ok with figuring the large components quantities.

My main concern was the other elements hence the small 1/4 dose. Do you think given the load this is not needed currently?

My levels for the big 3 are for all intensive purpose good right now.
Nitrates are between 5-10ppm
Phosphates read as 0 from my Hanna.

By other elements I meant the AF energy, build, vitality and amino.

I am getting the nitrates lower as I was shooting for a 5 or below range.

No amino, and everything else half the recommended dose.:)
 
If your going to use the complete stack method in a reactor then you'll want the Zeo on the bottom, then carbon, then sponge, then the phos minus on top. Once you see the phos minus just barely tumble you have the perfect flow. [emoji4] You do not want the carbon to tumble. [emoji6]
 
Would that not cause them to mix?

No they dont mix. Also AF satcking method dont use a sponge so actually you dont need.

Yeah I'm not running the Zeo portion Reefkeeper so that's why I am asking about the sponge in between the Carbon and GFO

I see a light tumble on the top but not everything appears to be moving.


Anirban, that's good to know...I may try the no sponge next time around then if that's the case...unless I need the sponge because of no Zeo on the bottom.
