Hey everyone! I got a pistol shrimp today and as soon as I put him in the tank, he crawled to the far back corner of the tank and made a burrow. I can't see him back there and I'm getting a randall goby soon. I'm wondering, do pistol shrimp and goby pairs move around from place to place or do they pretty much stick to the same home? When I put in my goby, I want to be able to see them but I can't if they are in the far back corner of the tank. Any way I can get him to move outta there?

My second question is, can I put in 2 pistol shrimp in the same tank? It's a 30 gallon long tank. If I get a 2nd pistol shrimp, do I need to get a 2nd goby to pair with him or will the two shrimp fight for the goby?

I bought my goby and pistol shrimp as a pair about 6 months ago. After acclimating, I put them in the tank and they went in opposite directions into the rocks. I didn't see either one for a couple of weeks. Now they are right in the front center of my tank. They do move burrows from time to time but they are always in the front of the rock work where I can see them. There is probably no way you can force them to be where you want them but I think they figure out pretty quick that it's best to be front and center for feeding time!

I am not sure about your second question, never tried multiples.

Good luck! Their symbiotic relationship is cool to watch!

I bought mine paired about a year ago in my 8g. Honestly I only see them during feeding time. The Goby will sit at the entrance to the hole waiting for food. Then they eat and vanish... Pistol does most of his work at night

I think I'll go ahead and order another pistol shrimp so I'll have two of them. Maybe I'll get a chance to see the other one lol. Ordering my Randall goby tonight. When the goby and 2nd pistol shrimp arrive, can I drip acclimate them together? Or should I Acclimate them in separate buckets? Normally I acclimate separately, but would be easy to stick them in together. Acclimating them together would also help them get better aquainted right? What say you guys/gals?
