I have a colony of 20-25 zoa polyps. It recently sprouted 4 new heads. After three days the new heads have not opened. All other polys are open and great looking. The zoas receive 150-175 par.

parameters:
Nitrate: 5
Phosphate: 0.1
Alk:9
Calcium:460
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite:0

Any idea as to why they won’t open. They are slightly shaded by the other polyps but I would think this wouldn’t be that big of a deal as they could stretch.

Just give it time, if the other polyps are open, I'm sure these will also.

What salt are you using, I ask because my tank is almost all zoas and for about a year I used reef crystals and everything was doing great . Then I started using red sea coral pro and over about 1.5 months my zoas started to close and melt , lost all of my sps as well. Now I back to reef crystals and my zoas are comming back. Just saying.

I’m using Regular IO...I don’t think it’s salt as all the original polyps are Great, but just the new ones wont open
