Can't post here, Read this.
To limit the amount of people just signing up to sell things here on reef2reef we have decided to limit selling to members that have at least 25 posts and have been a member for at least 30 days.

If you have any questions or concerns about this please start a thread in the feedback forum.

This policy is so reminiscent of the big bad site that bans everyone. R2R has always been a more friendly site that the big bad one, so why start these kind of dictatorial policies?

90 days > 30 days. I really think that it should have been the case all along. If someone wants to join a forum just to sell, they can buy a sponsorship like the other vendors because that's essentially what they would be if they just came on the site to sell. Also, Rev will (and has, from personal experience) PM you if you're out of line. Much better than getting a message saying you did something wrong from a moderator whose too lazy to answer your response PM's.

+1 to NaC

Also it kinda defeats the purpose of a forum if you just sign up to sell stuff, join ebay if all you want to do is sell(Not saying that to you Dave,im just saying that in general)

The rule has been there, but the sticky is new because there were a few questions on it recently.

As NaCl stated it is to keep people from signing up just to sell an item. And honestly it really doesn't take much time to generate 25 posts.

Personally I wouldn't buy a thing from someone who has less than 25 posts anyways.

Just saying-Us mods will respond to your PM's.

As the previous posts have suggested, we implemented the selling controls because there are too many people who will use the site for selling purposes only. Being able to sell is a benefit you acquire after you have demonstrated a minimal participation in the site as a whole.

The site's primary purpose is to provide a place for marine aquarium hobbyists to exchange ideas and learn from each other. Selling is a secondary activity. As has been mentioned, if your only purpose for joining and using Reef2Reef is to sell, contact RevHtree and he will be happy to sell you a sponsorship. With that sponsorship you can post a banner, get listed on the sponsors page, and have your own forum to sell whatever livestock or equipment you want to sell, within the rules of the site. If that's not an option for you, eBay will be happy to have you but, again, you'll have another set of rules to follow there. A third option would be to set up your own website. Then you can sell anything you like, provided you follow the rules imposed by your domain/site hosting company.

With whatever avenue you choose, the Reef2Reef moderators wish you the utmost success.

You could join crazy N-R where they won't even let you sell packs, regardless of your post count...

This thread is not going to go anywhere good. The rules are what they are. Closed.

Just to clarify, this rule has been in place for well over 2 years. :) Not new, just a new sticky in the dry good selling section.
