I received a potters angel Thursday, it seemed healthy, but I've still been struggling to get it to eat. I've tried a few different frozen options. I also put in a small piece of liverock yesterday and noticed it pickin at it, so this morning I rubber banded some nori to it. As I was watching, I noticed it flash off the liverock 3-4 times. Then I saw it flash off some pvc. I wasn't planning to treat with anything until I got it eating, but now I'm worried I can't wait. I'm thinking I should start slowly ramping up copper in case it's velvet, but visually, I'm not really sure what the problem is. Maybe freshwater dip first? I attached a picture in case you can see something I'm not. Thanks for the help.

I don't see anything visible, buy a FW dip would probably be a good thing to see if flukes are involved.

When Potters "bleach out" like that, it is usually velvet. It can hide in the gillls, and often does in angels. There's a strain that doesn't show spots at all.

If the fish is flashing that frequently in that span, I would increase copper. Truthfully, when they bleach it's usually the end.

To get it to feed, try tiny feedings of live blackworms, and live brine.

Thanks, I thought he looked pale. It's definitely flashing occasionally now. I'll start increasing copper. I did just see it nibble on some chunks of frozen formul 2 that sank to the bottom, so I guess that's a plus. I'll try to find some live food today too.

Yup. You'll need both for good chances.

Also, increase copper in very tiny doses several times over 24-48 hours. Test daily.

We had luck with our angels eating flakes at first and fresh clams on the half shell. Try that. Also, some angels don't eat at all when they're sick.

I recommend a FW dip, you will check for flukes if any and at same time provide relief if velvet is in the gills, its a win win in both cases. Make sure to tempreture match it to the qt and aeriate it for 30 min before the dip. Make sure u dont exceed the 5 min mark

So I just did a FW dip on my potters and pretty sure I confirmed flukes. This is a first for me actually, but I must see about 50 of the tiny white worms at the bottom of my FW dip container. I've got cupramine up to .25, and was planning on adding more copper tonight, but should I hang tight with adding the copper and dose prazipro now instead? Should I be worried about infection too?

The color of the potters actually seems to be much better today. I attached a pic during the FW dip and a pic of the bottom of my container where you can see all the white specs that fell off. Those are flukes, right?

It's hard to tell from the photo what I'm looking at. I see some things that could be called flukes, but can't say for sure if that's what they are since the picture is a little blurry. Mine is a little blurry too, but you can see them clearly enough. This is what flukes looks like. Does yours look the same?

Hmm, no, looking at your picture makes me think that's not what I saw now. I didn't have anything that large and round looking. Thinking I should just go ahead and bump up the cupramine to get it into therapeutic range. I Actually haven't seen it flash now since the FW dip, and it was happening pretty frequently before.

Well I'm pretty excited, officially got the potters into the display a couple days ago! He went through cupramine and prazipro without any issue, and really took to eating flakes in QT. Now that he's in the display he's catching on to eating just about everything else I'm feeding with too! Thanks to everyone for all the help and input.
