New pump contaminated my water?

I bought a new pump from Current USA to add to my tank. wanted to get more change over.
I washed it off with just hot water flushing out the tubing, took a tooth brush to the pump blade and intake and then a RODI water rinse. I put it in after a water change, and let er rip tater chip!
and literally the next day, all my corals were ticked!! I did another water change and did not help. After a process of elimination, and a 100% water change WITH a sand clean ( to get rid of my cyno or diatoms, what ever it was..) AND took out the pump, everyone is recovering. I did lose a richorida that I grew from a dime size to bigger then a .50 cent coin but thankfully no one else survived.
any to my point, did I do something wrong or clean it wrong or what?

The pump probably changed the flow patterns in the tank with either higher or lower flow.

It's not likely to be contamination from the pump itself if you rinsed it.
