So, I've tried 2 giganteas in the past, probably over 10 years ago, without success. I've done well with ritteris and have been on the hunt for a nice gigantea for over a year.

I think I may have struck gold. This was held at the vendor's for 2 months and was shipped via fedex. It arrived a couple hours late and looked like this in the bag:

Water looked a little cloudy so I did an abbreviated acclimation (about 20 minute drip after emptying out some of the original water). Discussed this with the vendor, who also agreed.

The anemone was a little sticky when I went into the bag, which was encouraging. It also immediately attached. The mouth gaped slightly but the tentacles are long and wavy and on day two, the mouth is tight and the anemone is starting to hold itself up well. I removed my ritteri and the female clown went into the gigantea almost immediately. She went to the male and kept trying to coax him over and today, they are both in the gigantea.

The anemone exhibits all the positive signs: tight mouth, long wavy tentacles, holds itself up, no inflation deflation cycles. It's sitting about 24" under a powermodule with some newspaper interposed to cut out the light. It sits on a large flat rock with a small depression centrally, though it's currently a little off to the side. I took this video under just the dawn/dusk bulbs and have cut the main lights down to 5 hours for now to avoid stressing it due to transport.

less then 24 hours after acclimation:

Any other hints/suggestions? BTW, the anemone was from JGonzz. Great price, great packaging, great communication, and most importantly of all, amazing specimen.

Very beautiful anemone!

Nice Roni, Glad it arrived in safe condition, I was getting worried when it went past the delivery time

It looks like the Clowns are happy in there new home :)

yeah, i was pretty worried too (the anemone came almost 5 hours late). still not past the danger zone but things look great. Definitely a testament to your husbandry and packaging!

Very nice anemone and clowns. Looks healthy, good luck with them

Cool anemone and cool placement too. Thanks for sharing.

thanks guys! So far everything looks good as far as I can see. It ate a little mysis out of the water column today so that's a good sign. How quickly do you think I can ramp up the lighting? I'm planning on upping the daylights by 1 hour until they are at 7 hours again and then removing a sheet of newspaper a day (there are probably 8-10 sheets). If it looks stressed, will wait a little longer. Sound reasonable?

Looks awesome.

I havent kept a Gig in a LONG time, Im thinking of purchasing a Mag again, I miss the ones Ive had terribly, I've had 3 and loved them all.

Looks great. How much bigger will it get? It's name implies it might get... Gigantic.

Wow...very nice flow in your tank after seeing your video. What do you use? Of course, very nice purple gigantea. :)

Gigantea should be fine with the fish. I had a ritteri that was bigger then that in there and the fish were fine. The clowns tend to attack anything that comes near the anemone, including me. At least that's my hope. I'm hoping it doesn't get any bigger. It's definitely expanded more since I got it. Probably about 18" across.

Really happy with it. Josh at Gonzofrags really hooked me up.

I've got 2 mp60s and a tunze 6155 in terms of powerheads. Also a reefflo pump for a return that contributes another 2000 gph.

Roni gigantea is actually know as a fish eater too, not so much on the magnifica.

I had a gigantea eat a 5 inch orange shoulder tang

The moorish has actually been completely safe so far. I've actually moved most of my acans and copies of all the nicer zoos to my wife's tank but there are still some lps (including an 18" elegance) and lots of zoos in the tank. I feed a lot (too much) and so far, the navarcus, the moorish, and the multiple dwarf angels have been relatively well behaved. IME, the moorish wants to eat all day and graze and if there isn't anything to graze, they'll nip. then again, it may decide to eat all the zoos one day and that will be that ;)

awesome nem bro!

Thanks!

Ugh, not good. This is the first healthy gigantea I have. I guess I'll have to see. Keeping my fingers crossed.
