New Purple Photosynthetc Gorgo dead?

Just got my first Gorgo

yesterday and it looked fine. Woke up today to this...

Not sure if Gorgonians are actually an SPS...it's a stick...so I figured close enough.

No it's not an SPS. And no it's not dead. Give it a day or three the polyps should come back out. There is some die off on the top where you can see the skeleton there.
The best success I've had with Gorgs is in flow high enough to make it move
