I just recently got this anemone today and was told it's splitting because of theven slit in the picture, all looks well iit's responding to light and opening and closing just unsure if I should be worried because of the slit/possible split.

any suggestions on what to do? I've been acclimating it slowly for the past 2 hours.

I may be wrong but I don't think carpet anemones split...
I don't think they do either but something is happening to him, the carpet is really sticky and it's foot is attached pretty sturdy to the base of the bucket, the mouth is slightly open.

I would send it back that's not supposed to be like that..... that looks like a tear from being removed from a rock or something.

If you cannot return him I would start him on treatment. Sometime injured anemone do well with treatment to keep them from get infection until they heal

Return it?? As I agree it shouldn't have been sold, it's the hobbyist job. To inspect livestock before purchase most places don't offer a guarantee or if it's online any reimbursement once the bag has been cut open! Best option is to qt the guy, keep high water quality, possibly treat depending on actual severity and keep fed until it heals! Sorry to hear about the issue but imo it's not bad enough that ide say it won't heal

Often haddoni can get chew up by PH and healed fine without problem, but the injury often on the tentacles and oral plates. Column injury is rare. Foot injury is more common, ripped when removed or when reefer did not know that they are on two rocks and trying to move just one rock. These injuries have poorer prognosis but sometime they can heal also.
Best of luck with him.

I'd return it if you can. Then EDUCATE the LFS on what you have LEARNED! Then ask them to pay you for doing their job for them :)

Well I couldn't return it but it seems to be doing very well, it's eating and actively moving, and it only has an open mouth when its hungry. Here is a pick up close of the slit.
