new Red sea Alk test kit ??

Iv'e been using red sea kits for some time. But now I about to go shopping .

I just purchased a refill for a red sea pro alk test. They have changed the color of the solution & this requires a new color card. I however didn't get the card with the kit. The LFS owner says Red sea will gladly send me a card. I hope this is true. Anybody else have this problem? Thanks !


I understand this new kit goes from blue to a green end point. If YA get yellow You have gone too far. The LFS guy had a picture on his phone sent to him by red sea rep but I can't find it on the redsea site.?? Ok I'm t not that good at guessing!

I purchased the new updated version myself a month ago.
Much much easier to define the endpoint, unlike the old redsea alk test.
I checked its accuracy against NSW & it was spot on accurate.
I was thinking about changing brands myself because of the ambiguity of the old test, but 10 out of ten to redsea for this improvement.

This has kept me away from the hanna alk checker. All our tests could have a bad batch but this all seemed to go on for quite a while, with people reporting issues even with replacement batches....

Well ,I ordered the Hanna. Have it Friday. Hope I have better luck than others. The new RedSea test kit may have turned out to be a good thing . so The 2 give me a good 6 point difference. the old id higher the new much lower. the old regent was not expired but old . That's what I went by. Maybe it was giving me false readings. & that's why my corals were looking waaaa. We shall see !

I just received the Alk Hanna checker. Going over the instructions they are suspiciously simple . I don't like it already !

The results are in ! The "new" red sea kit agreed with the Hanna ! The old kit was giving me a 7.6 where the new kit was giving me a 6.7 ! That means for who knows how long I have been getting a false(too high) reading !
The new kit, card or not was a blessing. I'm sure the corals will appreciate it ! Now i have to figure how to dose this from 6.7 up to 8.1 dkh Can't put it in all at once.

Ok Folks I just received the new Alk Red Sea card in the mail it took 10 days not bad at all. so If your missing or waiting for this new card E/M them.

I'm running into the same issue you guys are - I can barely see when the color changes so I'm sure my readings aren't as accurate as they should be. Very frustrating for an expensive test kit. Considering just getting a Hanna checker for alk.
