New Red Sea Reefer 250 V3 setup

The first coral- an infamous Xenia, I know they can run rampant and act like weeds- is doing fine.

Also going to try the Klir Filter as an APEX timer on off slave to avoid sump modifications. If I roll it every couple of hours, should keep it as clean as a nylon filter sock - I hope . Will fix the wires after I test. [emoji847]

New upgrades to the tank today [emoji16] added automatic water changer to stabilize water at all times. Automatic feeder. Still trying to add the hydras and prime to the APEX but Neptune has not quite got the kinks worked out yet.... [emoji30] but hopeful. Put my bubble scrubber on APEX as well as my new Tunze replacement unit. Klir installed on APEX with a timer. Don’t understand why Coralvue and Klir just did not make this thing to work in a timer, it makes no sense otherwise. Totally avoids having to rig an adaptor for the Red Sea reefers and Klir. Automated things, gets rid of socks, and makes sense.
Things overall pretty successful today. [emoji106]

The Klir on a timer is because the water level wil never rise enough for it's sensor to turn the rolls?
Then how about siliconing a plate on the other filtersock hole so all the water goes to the Klir or is the filtersock hole to large/small for the Klir to make a seal?

I can seal the other sock - that is not the issue. The height is the problem. Red Sea’s do not have 1.5 inches above the sock. You can make an adaptor- I have two versions of adaptors. But the problem is due to the sock holder height and height of the sump glass, you are leaving yourself open to routine flooding- and it is just not worth it. A timer for Klir in the Red Sea sumps would be so much better. Having water on the floor is not a good idea. And allowing the water to get so high on a routine basis with a Klir and an adaptor is just not a risk I am willing to take.... I removed my adaptor after I saw how high that water goes [emoji33]. All I would need is an air bubble or something messing up in my return and poof...imminent disaster....

Yea, my anemone protectors for my MP40s came!!! No more nasty covers, woohoo!!!

Have to say this trick works. No more stink. ThAnks Marine Depot for the clever [emoji362] idea!

That is a clever idea. What would I search for at Marine Depot to find this? BTW, I was planning on getting this skimmer for a long time but now I'm lean toward a Red Sea REEFER skimmer. RSK-300

Amazon and Marine Depot sell these carbon sheets. You just cut it in a circle to fit over your skimmer. Marine Depot has Video :). Rio carbon filter pads, works like a charm.

Working on the water changing station.
A work in progress.

Hey! Might be a dumb question, but did you have to add anything to your sump to get a Refugium in it?

Not a bad question :). The V3 red seas all have refugium option- so no need to add anything else other then macro and light etc...

Was that something you specified when you bought it or can I tell my LFS to order me the reefer 250 deluxe and it just come that way?

You need to specify you want Version3 V3 to get this sump. There are still some 250s left that are not V3 and won’t have the sump and pipes set up this way.

Great, I’ll let him know! Thanks a lot!
