New Red Sea Reefer 425xl leak!

Ever get home from work and see your return line blowing out a million bubbles? Your ATO completely empty? Crap!

Heres what happened, the tubing that’s connected to plumbing is rock solid. But the inlet on the pvc must’ve not been that strong. You could see it was already splitting (Now I run a Vectra, very quiet and doesn’t move at all).

It was blowing water out the side and going down the outside of the sump!
luckily I installed a shower liner below the sump before installing the sump, this caught a fair amount of the water, but not all of it though.... will go and check my crawl space late

After I turned everything off, I tried pulling the tubing off and the whole inlet snapped off with it. Wasn’t even a hard tug either!

I had to run out and buy some tubing and was able to connect the the inlet with the tubing with the snapped inlet.

Anyone else ever had this issue?

Sent this to Red Sea, still waiting for a response. I’m just upset because this is a brand new tank! But also happy it wasn’t the tank leaking!

I also installed some liner behind it if somehow it sprang a leak again. That way if it does leak from the side it can run back into the sump.

you tightened the top clamp to hard and broke the pvc barb.or if thats the fix , see how hard its pulling to the side in that pic when it was attached , you cannot stress the pvc like that or it will fail.

The last image is the new fitting. Both setups are only tight enough so no water leaks.
