New reef, diatoms gone... cyano arrived

Hey guys, my reef is still very new so I mostly expected this to happen... but the cyano bloom is here! Waited out the diatoms, which went away on their own, and then about a week later the red slime has appeared. My question, should I take the "wait it out" approach again, or should I actively try fighting the gunk? I have a small clean up crew already and they hold their own mostly on the glass, but the sand bed and rocks are starting to get covered. My lights are on currently so it's hard to make it all out, but here is a look some also forming in my sump.

In that case it looks like a circulation issue and just waiting it out.

You can try to siphon cyano if you want.

My answer is always patience and it works.

If you must do something, siphon and increase circulation.

A drastic measure is freshwater maracyn in a 1/2 dose with carbon removed. It works but it's not really necessary.

In general that may be true, but I have cyno in medium to high flow areas as well. Confuses me. I'll try using maracyn. The conventional treatment works for 2-3 days and then cyno returns. grrrrr
