New Reef Octopus 150SSS Review Anyone?

What size tank are you going to put this on? Do you have a sump?
I have a small sump and the skimmer area is even smaller. I had the nwb 110 in it before. therefore the new skimmer needs to be of similar footprint or smaller than the nwb 110. I noticed that coralvue updated their classic 150sss with the more powerful pump (am I correct on this?) my lfs says that he doesn't recommend it because the signs that he sees. what he meant by that is most online vendors are either out of stock or with minimal stock. that doesn't bode well from his point of view.

I would like someone to recommend a skimmer that will fit a 11x9 skimmer area and the total volume of water is roughly 60 to 70 gallons.

I chose the 200INT for my 125 gallon tank. It's got a big footprint, but I'm very happy with the performance.

I'm not sure I'd agree with your LFS, especially if it's a new product. It could just be that the vendors are having a hard time getting the item in stock.

Just got the reef octo regal 150sss... love it! And dc pump

The 110INT is 10.4" x 7" and is rated for 60 gallons with heavy bioload. I tried to pick one that is roughly twice the size I needed, and this one is close given your total water volume. Are you looking for an in-sump or external skimmer?

prefer in sump. I try to pick 2x the size as well. I just don't know how to trust the rating on coralvue's website

What about a Bubble Magus Curve 5?
well, my sump isn't too tall. so, 9 to 11inches of water level is very worrisome in my case. I keep my nwb 110 at 7 to 8 inches at most. I have to take into consideration of the power outage and the backflow.

I have heard of bubble magnus. how's curve 5 anyways?

I've heard some good things about the Coral Box skimmers. They use a variable speed DC pump, if you're looking for that feature at a reasonable price.

I ran the 150-ss on 65 for a bit. I liked it a lot. Quiet, easy to take apart and adjust, and skimmed very well. I would take that over BM any day.
