New Reef Octopus Bio Churn Reactor

I got my new Bio Churn reactor installed!

I think this thing is going to be pretty awesome, the quality is top notch as expected from Reef Octopus. This unit is a hang on back type that I have in my sump, I picked this design because I can control the out put out to my skimmer and it is small in size. It will hold 400 grams of bio pellets enough for a 100 gallons of water, I have a 92 gallon tank and a 20 gallon sump, with my live rock I think I am somewhere 100 gallons.

I will add a video as soon as I can figure out how to do that.

Added media to Bio Churn Reactor here are my water parameters to start added 200 ml of Reef Octopus bio spheres for 100 gallons of water

Day One 2-3-2013
PH 7.8 (not sure why so low)
Ammonia 0.0
Mag 1050 (also low not sure why so low)
DKH 7 (also not sure why so low)
Calcium 380
Salinity 1.026
Nitrate 2
Phosphate .08

So far so good. My nitrates and phosphates are comming down and my skimmer is going crazy.

Just got one and got it setup 5 minutes ago, I only added 250ml of Warner Marine ecobak.

This thing ahem...really churns the pellets, hopefully it will prevent clumping.

When you increase bacteria levels your PH will drop. Increasing O2/decreasing CO2 will bring it back up

I would not worry to much about the alk, particulalry if you're keeping SPS. Just keep it stable and you'll be ok. I run alk around 8 with my pellets and have never seen any burnt tips. That can happen sometimes with bacterial driven systems with higher alk at 9+. That biochurn looks pretty sweet. I have a RO BR-70 reactor that I like as well, but I don't get the kind of movement that you guys are getting. I get no clumping though.
